Joint AFASIC and BDA Research
The Association For All Speech Impaired Children (AFASIC) and the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) are running a joint three year project to provide professionals and parents with the means to improve language and literacy skills of pre-school and school-age children. This comes about because is increasingly recognised that difficulties with spoken language often overlap with those of written language. At the same time it is known that many children with language and potential literacy difficulties go unidentified and without help prior to entering school at five years of age and some with higher-level difficulties for much longer. Much more could be done to help such children overcome their difficulties during the pre-school years so the project is aiming to collate existing research and developed a training package for the relevant professionals in the pilot area of Bromley.
