INPP 2001 Conference Paper
Sally Goddard Blythe, of INPP, gave a paper (Neurological Dysfunction as a Significant Factor in Children Diagnosed with Dyslexia)in 2001 to the British Dyslexia Association annual conference. Its a study in to the link between retained reflexes and dyslexia and concludes: “…that neurological dysfunction confirmed by the presence of abnormal primitive and postural reflexes was a significant factor in this group of children diagnosed with Dyslexia, and that abnormalities in early patterns of motor development do affect the acquisition and automisation of higher more complex skills.“.
The paper also gives a good introduction into retained reflexes and their effect.
