Open University Needs Dyslexics
The Open University needs your help.
Hello,
I’m a researcher at the Open University. I am conducting an accessibility evaluation of an education-related web site and this is an invitation for dyslexic web users to take part. The outcomes of the evaluation will feed into improvements of the web site and into future developments at the OU.
If you are not dyslexic yourself, please feel free to forward this to anyone you know who might be interested.
If you are over 18, have dyslexia, have some experience of using web sites, live in travelling distance of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, and would like to earn £100, please read on. (Although if you are currently studying with the OU I’m sorry but you cannot take part because we need people who are not associated with the University!)
What is involved:
Taking part in this evaluation would involve you coming to an evaluation suite at the Open University’s campus in Milton Keynes. At the suite you would be asked to do certain tasks on the web site, and then be interviewed on your opinions of the site. Your use of the site and the interview would be video recorded. You will be asked to sign a consent form giving permission for the video recordings and other data to be used anonymously in papers, presentations and training sessions. The session will last up to three hours including breaks.
The building is accessible and we have a range of assistive technologies available and so will endeavour to meet any requirements you have regarding the computer.
Dates and times:
There will be evaluation sessions on 6 days in February and March, in the mornings at 9.30am, and afternoons at 2.00pm.
February: Tuesday 21st, Thursday 23rd, Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th.
March: Wednesday 1st, Thursday 2nd.
Payment and expenses:
We will pay you £100 minus tax for your participation, via bank transfer. You will need to bring your National Insurance number and your bank account details on the day. If you would rather not receive payment we can offer you a £50 book voucher instead. In addition your travel expenses will be reimbursed.
