Thanks to whoever wrote this! :) It has been a tremendous help for me. For years I was told that since I could read and write fairly well I was 'no longer' dyslexic. Now I get what's happening... This explains (I think it explains this anyways.) why I still have trouble with my left and right, why in math I'm still not getting everything, why I take longer than everyone else to finish things, and why I still show so many signs of dyslexia. Please someone correct me if I'm misunderstanding this, but if I'm not his explains everything. Thanks!

As a student at York - actually, we aren't taught that if you fix the phonics side then everything will be fine. There are other things people with dyslexia struggle with (one of the other things York's particularly strong on is working memory, for example with the work of Gathercole, Baddeley, & Hitch). But we do look at whether phonics is more helpful in teaching people with dyslexia to read than other approaches to teaching reading, such as whole-word reading, & I'd suggest that the evidence does tend to support this conclusion.
