Henry - is dore the right path to take?

Henry - is dore the right path to take?

We are new to this website and to the whole idea of Dore. Our eldest son, Henry, has experienced difficulties since starting nursery at 3 (he is now nearly 7).These have included poor coordination, failure to establish long term friendships, a refusal to write, failure to concentrate, fidgeting, disorganisation and not wanting to follow instructions. He is still a bit of an enigma to the school and the community paediatricians have never given a firm diagnosis. The terms that have been used are dyspraxia, aspergers syndrome and DAMP. He is doing quite well at school despite never qualifying for any additional support and academically he is average. BUT he sticks out like a sore thumb because he doesn't have the need to socialise like his peers and is so easily distracted.  He can socialise and he can concentrate on the thimgs he becomes interested in but for the teachers he can be very frustrating. We find we are constantly on his case to 'listen to your teachers', 'do as you are told first time' but if these are real difficulties should we not be more supportive.

We have heard about Dore for a couple of years but have never considered it before now as Henry was too young and he has never shown symptoms of dyslexia. We are willing to try anything that will make life easier for Henry especially before he starts to realise the differences between him and peers. With Dore not diagnosing before you sign up for the year's course, how can we be sure that it will work for us?

I'm sorry if this introduction has sounded like a ramble but with Henry not having a clear cut diagnosis it is difficult to sum him up concisely!!!

Thank you for taking time to read this.
