Hi,
I am a new member, my son started the Dore programme last year in July. He's age 11, and had just left primary school, and started secoundary education in September.
It has been really difficult to judge his progress, as the new Secoundary school just went on the assesment given to them from the primary school. St.Johns primary school I feel failed him as they choose not to put his exam results forward when his did his sats and they said it would not show what he can do. so showed the school his years work. I feel this just helped there figures for the school ( 1 less under acheiver ). The head of SEN that deals with the area of schools in the region had been on long term sick over a year and no replacement was given so left to me to try to persue through Doctors.
Eventually clutching a straws I tried this and find difficult to judge his progress and the new school does not do reading everyday for the children and writing still a chore. they want me to read and do typing with him, but find It so hard to have the time when I want to do the exercises night and day with him as well as juggle chores, working evenings and seeing to a demanding 3 year old. Feel all my son gets is me demanding he does all this and thinks he gets no me time…. so thought maybe if someone else came and did the the reading and writing to help with schoolwork I would have more time to spend with him. Just found everything so expensive at the moment. Glad he is doing the Dore programme but it has really broke me too. Is there any way we can get help with free tution afterschool? I am not on any income support or benefits as my partner works full time and I work round his hours part time, we make ends meet but cannot afford much for tution. Lucky if we get a camping holiday this year!!
Anybody have any idea's
