On Mental tasks but no regression?
On Mental tasks but no regression?
Hi all,
I wondered if anyone else has had this issue. Our son (turns 8 on St. Patrick's Day) has been on mental tasks for five weeks now. We are very good about doing exercises every day, but he has missed one day last week due to being sick with a bad cold. Other than a small amount of mental confusion, like asking the same questions several times, he doesn't seem to have gone through another reconstruction. Since he has dyspraxia and dyslexia, he is expected to be on the program longer than normal, like two years. Shouldn't he have gone through the second big reconstruction by now? Has anyone else had their child take this long to hit the regression stage after starting mentals? Could the fact that he's been fighting a cold for a week and a half and been real congested have anything to do with delaying it?
On a positive and super wierd note, his ADHD disappeared OVERNIGHT. His mega hyperness just simply vanished. I can't explain it other than DORE. It happened before we went on mental tasks and has stayed away. Has anyone else seen this happen???
I thank God for DORE and our wonderful (and adorable) counselor John at the Grapevine center. He is so unbelieveably patient with us and always answers my questions and concerns when we're there and even when I call, needing some reassurance. I couldn't get through this program without him! He is the ultimate professional and seems to really care and connect with my son, even when he is bouncing all over the room and I'm pulling my hair out!
I look forward to hearing from yall!
