Dore Reborn

Out of the ashes of the Dore Achievement Centres, a new Dore rises.

It is now official, Wynford Dore and Dr Roy Rutherford have brought some or all the assets of the Dore Achievement Centres. According to the this message on the Dore Talk forums:

Just to let you know that we will be writing to all clients in the next day or so to let everyone know the ongoing plans. We have already tried emails and texts to phones to keep everyone up to date but some people are still not aware of what has happened. A new company had to be set up in order to move forwards and support exisiting clients. This could not be done until the administrators had completed their processes. Since this happened two weeks ago we have managed to recruit several programme specialists back into a new support centre in Kenilworth and are now seeing follow up clients. We have very limited numbers of support staff who are now contacting clients in chronological order from the 23rd May to offer a follow up appointment at the Kenilworth support centre while we start to organise the development of new partnerships around the UK to continue the Dore programme provision. We are confident that we can maintain ongoing provision to exisiting clients via this support centre until new centres open nearer to you.

Meanwhile everyone should register and use the MyDore facility via the Dore website. This system has taken 2 years to complete and was about to be launched this year. It is designed to provide your programme online and also to allow prescription of new exercises based on previous exercise reporting and previous physiological progress. Historically exercise precribing was based not only on physiological tests but also on other factors including exercise difficulty and compliance. By now examining exisiting physiological progress we are confident that the My Dore system can keep people well on track with the right programme while we make every effort to get clients tested as soon as possible.

Many thanks for your patience during this time of uncertainty.

There isn’t any news of this on the Dore website nor is there anything on Wynford Dore’s personal site (in fact, that hasn’t been updated since April). Hopefully this lack of communication will be fixed soon and is not a continuation of the very poor communication between Dore and his clients over the bankruptcy.

Thanks to Sarah S. for passing on this tip.

  1. So for years the Dore programme was based on exercises perscribed after tests. Now all of a sudden there will be little or no need for this and everyhthing can be done online. Yet again with no research to support this i would guess. And how much will this new non appointment programme cost i wonder. Sounds like a rip off of Learning Breakthrough to me.

  2. I now understand why this ‘new’ Dore setup is called ‘MyDore’. It would seem this different marketing is pure ‘Retail’ and the dore programme is to become ’self-service’.
Now that someone has decided that regular physiological tests, compliance and exercise difficulties are less significant in the Dore equation. Interesting, as these three areas would have been part of the ‘one to one’ relationship with the Programme Specialist. This relationship being the only way I would accept that the Dore programme was personalised and probably the most costly to maintain.
The concept of compliance, as used by Dore, CONceals that the exercises were not personally prescribed. If the exercises were truly prescriptive and personal they would work in all cases, hence the next step the importance of compliance and completion of the Dore programme.
Dore makes the claim that the exercises themselves are personalised, based on their testing and analysis to the individuals’ needs
Now there’s suddenly a giant leap and it would appear any ‘prescribed’ and I use this term ‘prescribed’ loosely; exercises will be “prescribed’ on the individual’s ‘previous exercise reporting and previously physiological process”, which to me is ’self-service’. We might see the Dore programme on Tesco’s shelves!

  3. Sorry, Tesco is probably too downmarket but would probably offer a competitive price.
Marks and Spencer will be a suitable market place, after all it’s now marketed “Your M & S” and would be a good partner for “MyDore”!

  4. Hi Via, I think Dore are obviously looking to deliver the programm, for less cost, that makes sense, then they can reach more people. I don’t believe that the assessments are going completely, my views are that they are going to be less frequent and shorter when you get them, and at what point they stop at, I don’t know how they’ll sort it out. The assessments are crucial to the whole programme, as you say the programm will not be individual with myDore only, as the filling in the difficulty levels can be very subjective. Some people could mark hard, for any small mistakes, where others would be lenient. THe exercises of course are the same catalogue for all and it is the knowing when to move forward (using the assessment data) that is the thing that individualises the whole process, -knowing when to move forward to a harder set etc. and also we don’t all get exactly the same in the same order.
One good thing I would welcome - the dropping of the hard selling sales people I don’t want to tar all with the same brush, but I had 1 on the phone 6 months before signing up and felt pressured and he hadn’t even put a foot in the door.
Sorry I don’t really understand your disatisfaction, obviously don’t know your experiences, is it with you employer? Certain departments within Dore certainly seem to have been run very poorly, whereas the centres at the front line seemed to have happy staff, -up until the shock of redundancy. Communication also seems to be an issue with the company-it’s a real shame.
I hope you get closure with Dore, as it has helped very many, and my son would have been struggling a lot more without it.
    Kind regards
    Lesley
